The Department of Digital Humanities Society (DHS) at King’s College London (KCL) is a student-run organisation that engages its members to be well-rounded digital citizens.

As one of the fastest growing disciplines in academia today, digital humanities integrates the study of human culture with the application of digital technologies. The Digital Humanities Department (DDH) at KCL is one of the largest and most influential departments of its kind. Boasting a history of humanities computing dating back to the 1970s, DDH was ranked first in the UK for research power in the Research Excellence Framework.

Armed with a strong understanding of contemporary digital tools and a critical eye for how best to use them, KCL’s digital humanities scholars go on to be key contributors to a range of fields in academia and the private and public sectors. The Department of Digital Humanities Society was launched to support students in making the most of their time at KCL and in transitioning to life beyond their academic program.

“From networking events to topical cultural outings, from the student-organised conference to department socials, DHS offers a range of events to suit all digital curiosities.”

DHS brings together KCL students and faculty within DDH and across the college to participate in academic, cultural, career-oriented and social events centred around digital culture and technology. Capitalising on our location in the cultural capital, the society aims to connect its members with a diverse group of influencers and industry leaders to facilitate new modes of learning and the open exchange of ideas. From networking events to topical cultural outings, from the student-organised conference to department socials, DHS offers a range of events to suit all digital curiosities.
